What is Radiesse?
Radiesse is a synthetic, FDA-approved compound that does not contain animal by-products. Instead, it is made of calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres, which is combined with a water-based gel, enabling this product to add volume to improve facial contouring immediately. The result is a smooth surface that looks and feels natural.
Radiesse vs. Juvederm and Restylane
Radiesse is thicker than Juvederm Ultra Plus and Perlane/Restylane. Regarding chemical makeup, Radiesse is closer to cartilage (calcium hydroxyapatite), whereas Juvederm and Restylane are gel forms of hyaluronic acid. According to several clinical studies and actual patient use, Radiesse dermal injections have been proven to:
- Stimulate natural collagen production
- Replenish lost volume, creating a more youthful appearance
- Produce results that last a year or more in many patients
How Does Radiesse Fill in Facial Wrinkles and Folds?
Radiesse is a calcium hydroxyapatite filler gel that adds volume to the skin. It is often used to treat wrinkles and folds that appear due to reduced volume under the skin’s surface. Radiesse works similarly to natural collagen in the skin – it hydrates the surface and keeps it supple. This substance fills in and eliminates not only fine lines but also acne scars and other abnormalities that may mark the skin. You will mostly see an effect on static facial lines, which are noticeable when you are not moving your face, and appear when your skin is not as elastic as it once was.
Aside from age, the cause of static lines may be years of smoking, damage from the sun, and genetics. The main places that static lines are found include:
- Lips, cheeks, and chin
- Between eyebrows
- Nasolabial folds (laugh lines)
- Backs of hands

For the past 15 years, I have been a patient of Dr. William DeLuca. Over the years, Dr. DeLuca has personally performed cosmetic work on me, including both major and minor out patient procedures and maintenance Botox injections.
I have always found Dr. DeLuca to be very professional, honest and caring. I feel he has always been upfront about everything with me as a patient, particularly if I inquired about a certain procedure where he would tell me “you do not need it (yet)”.
Not only have I been Dr. DeLuca’s patient, but my mother and my 21 year old son have had surgery performed by him as well. He has also performed out-patient procedures on my 18 year old son too.
I feel Dr. DeLuca has always had complete integrity as a doctor and I have always completed trusted him, literally with my life. Not only have I trusted him with my life, but my mother’s and most of all my son’s lives as well.
